Made In Mimbre | The Microdocumentary

Having spent two full summers in South America in my teen years, I have a deeply rooted love for Latin culture. This culture offers a pace and an appreciation for things that transforms a person – especially a North American person – who has the privilege of spending time there. Latin culture is incredibly rich and vibrant, and it seeps through the pores of every facet of life like honey through a honeycomb.

I recently stumbled upon a visually stunning microdocumentary that not only showcases beautiful process and beautiful product, but also the holistic philosophy that so authentically represents the Latin way of doing life. Perhaps in watching this, you too will fall in love with a different pace and a deeply respectful appreciation for people and process.

Just a few shots of their beautiful product:

Today my wish for you is that you will be able to appreciate the people that are significant to your process. My hope is that – in true Latin style – you will discover that you are both valued and that you value others above the end results. This is one of the most important ways we can make our process much more beautiful. Thank you to the team at Made In Mimbre for leading by example.

The Art of the Mix | Michael Hainey + Brooke Cundiff via The Selby

I love a truly curated house – a space that has clearly been collected over time. The truth is, they are hard to come by {done well, anyway}. There are certainly homes that are left to their own devices over time, but they suggest a certain numbing to life. That is not at all what I mean. I mean the kind of home in which you can sense the life of those living within. Their travels. Their reading. Their connecting. Their laughing. Their eating and sleeping and really LIVING.

I stumbled upon one such home recently on The Selby and thought I would share it with you today as a sweet slice of inspiration. Feast your eyes on the delightfully eclectic New York home of writer, artist and editor Michael Hainey and Brooke Cuniff, Director of Merchandise for Park & Bond.

I also happen to l.o.v.e. these shoes from Park & Bond for my husband. English made classics. Anniversary gift perhaps?

Wishing you a day of discovery and of secretly treasuring beauty like a delightful love note in your pocket from your sweetheart.

Tata Harper | When Smart Meets Beautiful

As you know by now, I love process. So much so, in fact, that my motto is “Beautiful process, beautiful product.”

What you may not know yet is that I also believe in organics. I believe in eating organics as much as possible, and I also believe in living as toxin-free as possible both in my home and with my beauty care.

It only takes one significant health challenge to motivate you to investigate how you can transform your health. As I’ve come to discover, the body is like art and life. A beautiful process {caring for it with organics, feeding it with the nutrients it needs and keeping it free of a heavy load of environmental toxins} will result in a beautiful product {much more vibrant health}. It takes time and effort, but anything worth having does, doesn’t it?

Tata Harper certainly agrees with me. It took 5 years of research and loving development for her to create her incredible line of all-natural skin care. Not content to farm out her formulas and key ingredients, Harper has a hand in every step of the process from formulation to packaging to marketing. An industrial engineer who started the company out of a frustration at the lack of natural skin care products that also met women’s desire for real results, Tata lives what she believes. Her 1,200 acre organic farm in Vermont is the source of the majority of the ingredients found in this beautiful product line. Here is a bit more of the story behind the product from the engaging creator herself:

I have recently made the switch to Tata’s lovely skincare line, ditching my “mostly natural but not very effective” line up for her much more promising product. I’ll admit, it’s pricey, so I’ve started with just a cleanser and moisturizer to ease my pocketbook into the relationship.

So far my sensitive skin is loving it. With pure ingredients like raw honey and hyaluronic acid, my skin feels fresh and deeply nourished without a heavy feeling left behind as with other natural products I’ve used in the past.

Thank you, Tata, for combining your passion and intelligence with a beautifully authentic process of research and development. Your commitment to health and beauty have truly produced a beautiful product, and you are clearly a woman who embodies my motto in every way. Thank you for leading by example!
