Tata Harper | When Smart Meets Beautiful

As you know by now, I love process. So much so, in fact, that my motto is “Beautiful process, beautiful product.”

What you may not know yet is that I also believe in organics. I believe in eating organics as much as possible, and I also believe in living as toxin-free as possible both in my home and with my beauty care.

It only takes one significant health challenge to motivate you to investigate how you can transform your health. As I’ve come to discover, the body is like art and life. A beautiful process {caring for it with organics, feeding it with the nutrients it needs and keeping it free of a heavy load of environmental toxins} will result in a beautiful product {much more vibrant health}. It takes time and effort, but anything worth having does, doesn’t it?

Tata Harper certainly agrees with me. It took 5 years of research and loving development for her to create her incredible line of all-natural skin care. Not content to farm out her formulas and key ingredients, Harper has a hand in every step of the process from formulation to packaging to marketing. An industrial engineer who started the company out of a frustration at the lack of natural skin care products that also met women’s desire for real results, Tata lives what she believes. Her 1,200 acre organic farm in Vermont is the source of the majority of the ingredients found in this beautiful product line. Here is a bit more of the story behind the product from the engaging creator herself:

I have recently made the switch to Tata’s lovely skincare line, ditching my “mostly natural but not very effective” line up for her much more promising product. I’ll admit, it’s pricey, so I’ve started with just a cleanser and moisturizer to ease my pocketbook into the relationship.

So far my sensitive skin is loving it. With pure ingredients like raw honey and hyaluronic acid, my skin feels fresh and deeply nourished without a heavy feeling left behind as with other natural products I’ve used in the past.

Thank you, Tata, for combining your passion and intelligence with a beautifully authentic process of research and development. Your commitment to health and beauty have truly produced a beautiful product, and you are clearly a woman who embodies my motto in every way. Thank you for leading by example!

Indie Musician Lucy Rose – All Saints Basement Sessions

I have a heart that is easily charmed by thoughtful lyrics, a folksy acoustic and a vulnerable voice. That is why I am utterly smitten with the sweet sounds of English Indie muso Lucy Rose. How did I find her, you ask?

I discovered All Saints Spitalfields a few years ago on an excursion into town with my cousin Karen in her home town of Brighton, England. She was delighted to introduce me to one of her favourite clothing shops, and with their unexpected mix of feminine-meets-rock-and-roll, I instantly understood why she loved them so.

From girlie sequins to edgy leather jackets and tops and dresses with asymmetrical cuts and stitched details, they’ve got a distinctive look that is pretty killer.

Though All Saints has not yet moved to Canada, they have crossed the pond to settle in the US. I recently discovered that they have expanded beyond fashion to offer – to my great delight – beautiful videos of indie musicians featured in their very own Basement Sessions. A fashion company that takes supporting indie musicians seriously is worth checking out in my book!

Lucy Rose was named one of Indie Music’s breakout stars in 2012 by Vogue Magazine. Also regularly touring as a part of both Bombay Bicycle Club and Noah & The Whale, she’s just the kind of girl I’d love to chat with over a good cuppa. Hope you enjoy her just as much as I do!

Wishing you the loveliest of weekends!

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Every once in awhile I stumble upon something so full of visual inspiration that I just can’t help but share. These photos (by NYC photographer Jamie Beck of From Me To You) document the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic held at Liberty State Park in New York just this past June. A feast of inspiration in the form of sport, quirky style, glamorous fashion, elegant food and thoughtful presentation, these photos left me with lots of ideas for both kitchen and closet!

I love the branding continuity of this event – from the yellow umbrellas to the foosball table to the sweet canaries right through to the vintage yellow cruisers. Quelle élégance! Trés chic.

Happy Monday!
