Our Christmas Home Tour | With Sweet Woodruff + When He Found Her

“Gifts of Time & Love

Are surely the basic ingredients

Of a truly Merry Christmas.”

I was beyond excited when Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co. reached out to me with an invitation to take part in this year’s Christmas Home Tour. It’s such a great opportunity to connect with diverse design lovers from all over the globe and share our love for this most special of seasons. So welcome to all of you taking this virtual home tour, and especially the readers who have just followed the trail from House of Hipsters on over to our little nest.

KINDLE THE FIRE OF HOSPITALITY IN YOUR HOME

I know it might seem logical to start this holiday home tour with a shot of our Christmas tree, but for me, the heart of the Christmas season is the people who gather here and the memories we make together. Many of those memories are made around a roaring fire in our family room, so that’s where this tour starts today.

The-Curated-House-Christmas-Home-Tour-10091-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0069-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0067-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0081-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

I confess that my Christmas mantel decor tends to remain quite similar from year to year. I hang the same pair of warm white, fuzzy stockings for the boys on either side of the fireplace. Then I layer in simple greenery which just makes my heart happy. It’s beyond easy to install, it smells fabulous and it lasts all season. What more could you ask for?

This year, I reached out to the brilliant Lisa Gray from Sweet Woodruff to collaborate on the floral elements in our Christmas decor. She is truly a floral design genius, and one of the kindest, loveliest souls you will ever meet.

We both agreed that the family room, for all its understated glamour, needed to be dressed in something a bit wild and free for the holidays. So while I layered the mantle with boughs of cedar, pine and magnolia leaves, Lisa arranged gestural branches of magnolia and fragrant fronds of evergreen into vases of varying heights and sizes.

LAYER IN THE LOVE

0085-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0084-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

I wanted the coffee table to feel invitational and interactive, so I layered it with details. Antique silver trays filled with gluten free cookies. Coffee table books and a stack of vintage leather books to remind us to slow down and read. A pair of vintage opera glasses that were my grandmother’s (Tate loves to play with them). That gorgeous tall copper candle base from Renwil for a modern edge and visual balance with those effervescent magnolia branches arching beside it.

And my favourite: A tray of carefully wrapped presents to be opened on Christmas Eve.

TRADITIONS TO REMEMBER

0080-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0075-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

In our family, we only really have a few Christmas traditions. We have the same meal on Christmas Eve every year (Chateaubriand). After we eat, we open our Christmas jammies to wear to bed that night. Then the boys get to choose one gift from under the tree – anything they want – to open before bed.

Noah is the only one old enough to truly appreciate this tradition at this point. He carefully weighs and measures each package, trying to sort out what each box contains and what is worthy of being THE gift to be opened on Christmas Eve. It’s so fun to watch him savour the process, and he’s always grateful for whatever he opens, even if he accidentally chooses the box with socks in it.

Tate, on the other hand, is still grasping the concept of WAITING to open presents for Christmas. In fact, he may or may not have unwrapped these packages a good half a dozen times before the brilliant Reid Lambshead from When He Found Her came for our photo shoot together. It would have been adorable if I hadn’t had to rewrap them and stack them just so each time! Of course, now that the shoot is over, he hasn’t touched them. Toddler instincts, man. They’re killer!

TIPS FOR TRIMMING YOUR TREE

0027-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

When it comes to trimming the tree, you can apply some of the same principles you use when styling a room. The first tip is to choose a palette of three colours/elements and stick to it. This year – taking its direction from the living room – our tree is trimmed with silver, gold and glass ball ornaments. It’s glamorous and simple all at once, and it integrates ornaments we’ve had for years as well as a few new ones.

I consider what goes UNDER the tree to be as much a part of the trimming as what goes on it. That’s why I follow the same rules when wrapping gifts. I choose two papers max (and for me they’ve been the same for a couple of years running – brown kraft paper and leftover Nuvolette wallpaper from Cole & Son). I wrap boxes with lids so I can save them from year to year. They look super pretty under the tree, they are easy to open, and they’re easy to save. This year I finished them with either a herringbone grosgrain ribbon or black-and-white butcher string with a frond or two of incense cedar and a homemade calligraphy tag. Simple.

I also layered my tree skirts for more warmth and interest. I used a traditional circle skirt to cover the tree holder and then layered a reindeer pelt overtop. It integrates really nicely into the room as the reindeer pelt layered over the Morrocan rug just feels like comfort on comfort. Cozy, organic and yet somehow glamorous. That’s what I’m going for!

CASUAL CHIC COFFEE TABLE STYLING

0012-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0019-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0015-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0018-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

When it came to styling the coffee table in the living room, I felt like a “less is more” approach was the way to go. Especially with what Lisa had planned for the top of the dresser beyond. So out came my favourite vintage silver tray. I moved my crystal geode (one of my all time favourite accessories) onto the tray with a decadent floral arrangement. Those gorgeous Creators Of Objects candlesticks also moved onto the coffee table, and I kind of love them there. I always like having a couple of vertical elements on a coffee table to keep it interesting. Add in a couple of favourite coffee table books, that decorative and edgy black box and a candle and that’s all it needed! Other than a marbled pink and gold glass tray with gluten free cookies on it, of course!

A side note on decorating holiday cookies: If you follow me on Instagram you my have seen my InstaStory of me and Tate making these cookies. Moment of truth? Baking with toddlers is not for perfectionists. It’s not for the faint of heart, either. So…after surviving the baking part with most of the cookies intact, I decided to forego the beauty of perfectly piped icing. I just dusted them with icing sugar and called it a day instead. And you know what? They still looked pretty, they still got eaten, and no one died of a lack of decorative detail. Sometimes you just have to pick your decor battles, you know? I’m calling this one “icing sugar dusting for the win!”

LE PIECE DE RESISTENCE

When it came to styling the top of the dresser, the real design challenge actually revolved around doing justice to Ashley Woodson Bailey‘s stunning piece “Fringe.” Enter the creative genius of Ms. Lisa Gray of Sweet Woodruff. All I said to Lisa was “let’s treat the top of the dresser like a mantel.” She quite literally took care of the rest, and she totally took my breath away in the process.

0011-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0010-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0013-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0007-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0005-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0003-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

This is what happens when creative genius (Lisa) meets creative genius (Ashley) and all that magic is captured through the lens of creative genius Reid.

Total. Floral. Ecstasy.

I seriously want this in my house ALWAYS. I mean, weekly Sweet Woodruff floral installations wouldn’t be decadent or over-the-top, right? One could even say they are the necessary dose of beauty required to survive in this world, am I right?

*sigh*

DINING IN FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The last stop on this tour is our little dining room. I mean, I couldn’t do a Christmas Home Tour without setting the table! After all, hospitality over the holidays is my favourite. So, out came the good china and the real silver and the crystal stemware. Add in some herringbone napkins I scooped up at HomeSense, some calligraphy place cards I made and finished with sprigs of rosemary, and the table was almost complete. Almost.

0041-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0049-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0050-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0056-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

The centrepiece started with several pairs of Renwil Two Pence candlesticks staggered down the middle of the table. Then Lisa layered in a mix of evergreens for truly timeless Christmas elegance. We almost stopped there, but decided we needed to bring in some of the floral magic from the living room by adding in a few gorgeous blooms to finish the look. The nice thing about this tablescape is that the greens can stay, and I can add in fresh flowers or fruit over the next few weeks whenever I want to take it up a notch.

If you’re doing a tablescape like this for yourself, you can put the roses into water picks to keep them fresh for longer. Just hide the picks in the greenery and you’re good to go! Easy peasy.

0052-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0047-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0044-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0043-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour 0040-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour  0042-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour0039-TheCuratedHouse-ChristmasHomeTour

The other element that really makes the table setting for me are the lambswool seat covers on our Ghost chairs. They’ve really transformed the comfort level in this dining room from “eat dinner and retire to the living room ASAP” to “eat and linger over dinner as long as the conversation carries you.” Many of you have asked where to get these beauties for yourself, and the great news is that I now have them available in my new Etsy shop!

THE ESSENCE OF ALL ART IS GRATITUDE

To Lisa and Reid:

Thank you for sharing your creative genius with me. Your time. Your hearts. You are as kind and as talented as they come. I am beyond grateful to have worked with you both on this special tour!

MY CHRISTMAS WISH FOR YOU

“I just like to SMILE.

Smiling’s my favourite.”

– Buddy the Elf

This time of year is so beautiful, with all its sparkle and celebration and festivity. But it can also be hard for some.

So my wish for you, wherever you may be, is that you will be filled with HOPE this Christmas. My wish for you is that you will experience PEACE, regardless of your circumstances. And my wish is that you will know deep JOY, the kind that is not dependent upon the gifts that are wrapped under the tree. The kind that comes from choosing to focus on what matters most, and from making memories with the people who matter most.

It’s my wish for you, and it’s my wish for me, too.

Happy Holidays, my friends! May your days be Merry & Bright.

Here’s to soaking up even more holiday inspiration as you follow along on this beautiful Christmas Home Tour to the home of the lovely Ms. Craftberry Bush. There’s so much beauty to see, my friends, and so many different ways to celebrate! Savour it all as you find your own way of telling the Christmas story in your home.

Design Lessons From My Favourite One Room Challenge Spaces

It happens every season of the One Room Challenge. Stunning rooms that showcase not only the brilliant talents behind them, but also some great design lessons we can all learn from their beautiful results. Today I’m sharing some of my favourite ORC reveals along with some takeaways you can use in your own home.

KEEP IT CLASSIC WITH PANELLING

burlap-and-lace-orc-reveal-1 burlap-and-lace-orc-reveal-2 burlap-and-lace-orc-reveal-3

To say Shannon from Burlap & Lace nailed it would be a major understatement. This room for me is pretty darn perfect. From that delicious black marble mantel to the yummy Annie Selke rug to the modern lighting and traditional bust, the mix is timeless and fresh all at once. The number one design lesson from Shannon’s space? Moulding is magic. I love how she used Metrie’s moulding and that stunning door to give her room a sense of architectural presence. The simple formula for me is that panelling = good bones. Naturally, what Shannon did with all of her tasteful and interesting layers makes the room, but she was super start to lay the right foundation first.

LAYERS, BABY, LAYERS

hunted-interior-orc-reveal-3 hunted-interior-orc-reveal-2 hunted-interior-orc-reveal-1

Confession time: I’m pretty nuts over Hunted Interior‘s lovely layered lounge. It’s so boho-glam-meets-rock-and-roll it hurts! The design lesson here is in not holding back on layering textures and patterns for a room that feels collected over time and well-traveled. It’s modern and current but won’t date, a tough thing to accomplish with a space that is so fashion-forward. She’s also a black built-in buddy with a gorgeous custom bookcase that totally transformed the eating area in the space. I love the unexpected layering of rugs in the seating area. The mix of black and white pieces – from that amazing striped tray table to the subtle roman shades – is strong and classic all at once. Add to that the variation of patterns in the blue pillows and all that texture and this room just draws you in and makes you want to stay awhile. Be sure to head on over to her reveal post to check it out. So good.

LOVE IS IN THE (BOLD) DETAILS

When decorating her home office, Hollie Hollingsworth of The English Room didn’t hold back. This room is bold and glamorous, colourful and eclectic, and ultimately a reflection of the courageous creator behind it. Hollie is definitely the master of the unexpected mix. Most designers wouldn’t dare to use this many colours and patterns in one space, but Hollie makes it seem like magic. I adore the homage to Iris Apfel (Hollie’s style icon) in the art gallery wall, and the nailhead x detail with agate centres are seriously to die for. The design lesson here is that not a single inch of this room went without Hollie’s careful consideration. She literally took every opportunity she could to personalize and customize the space. The result is one of the most unique ORC’s I’ve ever seen.

MASTER THE CLASSICS

nancy-marcus-orc-reveal-1 nancy-marcus-orc-reveal-2 nancy-marcus-orc-reveal-3 nancy-marcus-orc-reveal-4

When it comes to investing in a room as important as the Master Ensuite, some people can be tempted to follow the trends. The design lesson from Nancy Marcus‘ gorgeous Master Retreat is that the classics are always worth mastering when it comes to your ensuite. Her use of porcelain Calacatta tiles from our friends at Creekside is totally timeless. It was also a smart save, as the porcelain is as easy as the eyes as it is on the budget. Accenting that with moonstone marble mosaics and a real Calacatta marble mosaic inset in the shower just ups the sophistication and timelessness. Add to that Nancy’s stunning claw foot tub, and she has created a sanctuary retreat that I for one would love to come home to every day!

MURALS ARE MAGICAL

less-than-perfect-life-of-bliss-orc-revealeleven-gables-orc-reveal

When it comes to creating a one-of-a-kind room, murals are magical. I love the way they tell a story and draw you in as if you are one of the characters in the narrative. These two talented ORC Linking Participants actually painted these stunning murals themselves! Insert all the applause hands. Seriously, ladies. The first space is the enchanted bedroom of Less Than Perfect Life Of Bliss‘ daughter Lola’s room. It feels like a fairytale, or even better, the backdrop for Lola to write her own story.

In the case of Eleven Gables‘ lovely little powder room, it was a “wallpaper fiasco” that led her to paint her own mural. With skills like that, I’d consider the wallpaper as the back-up plan the next time!

There were truly so many spectacular finished spaces with this round of the ORC that I could go on and on, but these were some of my favourites. Have you seen them all? Which rooms did you love the most?

Be sure to share them with me in the comments below, and pop back next week for some festive love! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, and I’m beyond excited to share it with you as a part of White Buffalo Styling Co’s Christmas Home Tour.

Until then, have a fabulous weekend! Keep your eyes open for beauty. It’s in all kinds of unexpected places.

One Room Challenge | Fall 2016 Edition | THE BIG REVEAL!

“Details are a love language”

– Sarah Walker

Gratitude. It’s the prime emotion I feel every time I write a reveal post for the One Room Challenge, and it seems to just get deeper every time.

It is not even the tiniest bit lost on me that this whole adventure is just one big privilege. (Thank you, Linda!!)

Getting to today takes a village. (Remember the BEFORE?) The king of that village is undoubtedly my husband. I am truly overwhelmed with gratitude for my Graham. This finished space represents his tireless work ethic, his partnership with me in life and love, his commitment to living out our vows (in sickness and in health), his love for me shown in perfecting all the little details as he used his hands to create yet another space where our family can connect. That’s what you’ll really be seeing as you look at these beautiful photos.

PANEL PERFECTION

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-3

To say that we are happy with how the paneling turned out would be a major understatement. As  you can see, in the end I decided to honour my original design plan. We added an interior panel of Metrie’s Fashion Forward Scene II Panel Mould inside the Pretty Simple Scene II Panel Mould that we’ve used throughout the rest of the house. I am thrilled with the end result, especially now that it’s all painted out in Farrow & Ball‘s Wimborne White.

In one sense it’s a bit unusual that we have the most formal paneling treatment in the entire house in our basement, but as my gut instinct told me from the beginning, the space needed it. The height of the panels was determined by the two cellar doors on either side of the feature wall. In order to make all those lozenges feel visually balanced, they needed that second interior panel. The extra detail also repeats the rhythm and relief of the casing around the doors.

SOFA HEAVEN

I love the way the feature panelled wall frames the gorgeous “Float” art photograph by Mandy Blake, printed and framed by the kind folks at PosterJack. I also love how it frames the stunning Joni Sofa from Whittington. I’m SO happy we upholstered this sofa in the pristine WHITE yet kid-and-red-wine-friendly Crypton fabric from my lovely friends at Thibaut. (This designer fabric is available to the trade only via Kravet.) Thanks to Thibaut, my white sofa dreams have finally come true, and I’m NOT afraid to live on it with my family. I’m seriously raising a glass of red wine to THAT!

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-1

The Joni Sofa herself is truly THE MOST COMFORTABLE PIECE OF FURNITURE WE HAVE IN THE HOUSE. This may seem like an overuse of all caps until you come over and sit in it. Consider this your open invitation to experience sofa heaven (and a movie) at our place. Not only can all four of us snuggle on it easily, but it’s also the best sofa in the house for stretching out and taking a nap. Not that I’ve done that yet, but it’s so on my to-do list it hurts.

LOVING OUR LOUNGE-WORTHY FLOOR

What we HAVE all done already is found ourselves lounging on the floor. Not because the seating isn’t comfortable (obvi), but because between playing with Tate, enjoying the comfort of the Karastan Leighland wool broadloom that our friends at Alexanian installed for us, and secretly stroking the super-soft tan hide rug from AllModern, there really is no reason not to get down to a toddler level and get into play time. I consider this a serious win. Any room that looks sophisticated and is a welcome home for the senses while still being kid friendly is definitely a designer success.

Speaking of success, I wasn’t entirely sure what the colour of the AllModern hide rug would be in person as I know online images can be tricky with natural hide, but in a stroke of serendipity, it is exactly the same colour as the vintage burled cubes we are using as our coffee table. I love the way they work together to anchor the seating area in this otherwise open space.

LAYERS, LAYERS AND MORE LOVELY LAYERS

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-5

How delicious is the texture of these petrified wood side tables from Bernhardt? I’m totally crazy for their rustic yet refined elegance. They are at once raw and polished (literally and figuratively) with their smooth tops and rough edges. I love the juxtaposition and poetry they represent all by themselves.

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-4

In contrast to the organic edge of the petrified wood side tables, I love the modern simplicity of the rustic copper container from my friends at Renwil (now home to a pretty little succulent from the lovely Fiori Oakville). That super yummy, so-soft-you-just-want-to-pet-it Mongolian Fur blanket you see is from the Tibetan fur experts at Fibre By Auskin, and it is truly the cure for any cold winter night. SO cozy!

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-6

As you’ll see in so many of these photos, the Karastan Leighland in Graphite Cluster is a gorgeous and graphic grounding to the space that makes it feel sophisticated and interesting while not competing with anything else in the space. I love the scale of this pattern and how it plays with all of the other patterns and details in the room, including the gorgeous Leopard Linen and Channels pillows from my lovely friend Arianna Belle. I’m pretty crazy about the pattern play and how it all came together. In the end, Arianna’s lovely blush velvet and the colour of the hide rug weren’t playing nice together (which again, can be the issue with screen-vs-reality), but I already have plans for that prettiness elsewhere in the house.

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-7

The fact that each petrified wood side table is unique quite simply makes my wood-loving heart happy, and the chic symmetry of the pair of brass Viola floor lamps from Renwil provide a counterpoint to the petrified wood pieces being slightly different in shape and height.

DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-2

Choosing to work with charcoal grey wool broadloom and a black custom built-in might seem like a bold move, especially for a basement. But as you can see, the basement actually feels big and bright. The Farrow & Ball Pitch Black paint on the media cabinet that Graham built serves to provide a dramatic focal point. In fact, it actually pushing the ceiling upwards and creating a really integrated home for the 65″ LG OLED E6 TV. It also makes for the perfect theatre-screening-like surround for movies. The Pitch Black built-in totally disappears into the background when we are watching movies and shows on the stunning LG screen.

The gorgeous brushed brass hardware from Upper Canada Specialty Hardware makes for a strong and modern statement, and also makes all of those drawers as pretty as they are practical. They represent a whole new world of toy storage entering our lives, another reason this room is as kid-friendly as it is adult-friendly.

KID FRIENDLY ROOMS CAN MAKE GROWN-UPS HAPPY, TOO

I don’t believe kid-friendly rooms have to look like a toy store threw up in them. It’s all about strategic storage, and built-ins are your best friend on that front. I am SO happy we managed to fit so much customized storage into this room. It will keep the space feeling open and organized which for me also translates into sane and happy.

The charcoal colour of the Karastan Leighland broadloom is also SUPER kid friendly, as is the pattern. Pattern is always more forgiving of spills and stains, and the naturally stain-repellent qualities of the New Zealand wool in this carpeting just take the kid-friendly-factor up another notch. The darker colour is grounding and warm without making the room feel small. As I said with the title for this section, don’t be afraid of the dark. In fact, I believe every well balanced room needs at least a bit of black (or dark) to create contrast and grounding.

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-8

Another sophisticated and surprisingly kid-friendly element in the room is the beautiful Cohen Chair from Bernhardt. This beauty’s Deco-inspired lines pair so beautifully with Whittington & Co’s Joni Sofa that I wish I’d opted for two of them instead of just one. That said, this one chair is perfect for the small piece of wall we have flanking the entry into the laundry room. I love how the soft and welcoming polish of the Park Blvd. Tibet Lambskin pillow looks nestled into the Cohen Chair. The hair-on-hide upholstery on the chair makes it surprisingly kid-friendly while adding an air of liveable luxury.

REPEAT DESIGN ELEMENTS TO CREATE COHESION BETWEEN ROOMS

As you can see right next to the chair, we chose to repeat the amazing Metrie Very Square Rift Cut White Oak doors that hide our furnace and water heater in the laundry room as the entry door to that space. I love the warm welcome and sophistication the simple rift cut oak door offers, especially mounted on this simple and modern sliding door hardware from Upper Canada Specialty Hardware. The soft close stoppers on the sliding door hardware are a particularly elegant touch, and the solid wood door from Metrie totally blocks out the sounds of the washer and dryer when closed.

Just as a reminder, here’s another peek at the laundry room (my first One Room Challenge space!):

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH BEAUTY WHEREVER YOU ARE

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-9

I have been longing for an inspiring exercise space in our house since we moved in, and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that that space finally exists. For me, beauty inspires and motivates, so it is entirely fitting that my exercise room looks almost as much like an art gallery as it does an at-home Pilates studio. I love that the combination of Minted’s Redwood Morning layered with Amy Friend’s Into Dreams I (via Citizen Atelier). Amy’s piece is finished with the perfect Framed & Matted frame, and I chose to work with an oversized matte to give it both space and presence (something I’m aiming for in my own body as I work on myself in this space).

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”

– Marcus Aurelius

CHOOSE ART THAT TELLS YOUR STORY

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-10

The Jaime Derringer for Minted piece on the opposite wall (also finished with a classic Framed & Matted frame) for me represents the layers of work and struggle, pain and discovery, triumph and overcoming that I have already uncovered and still have yet to grasp in my health journey. Exercise is no longer about achieving a dress size for me, and hasn’t been for years. It’s about achieving freedom in my own body – freedom from pain, freedom to move, freedom to be spontaneous, to play, to express myself, to live with unencumbered joy. I look forward to the steps I’ll take toward that kind of freedom in this sacred little space in my home.

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-11

It honestly makes perfect sense that the most health-oriented appliance in our house – the LG Styler – is also in this corner of the house. Be sure to pop back to my Week Four update to find out why I’m so appliance-happy over this little wonder. We’ve already used it a half a dozen times or more, and I think it’s safe to say it will be one of the most well-used and well-loved appliances we own.

the-curated-house-orc-fall-2016-reveal-3

EMBRACING THE CONTENTMENT OF MY CURATED HOUSE

And that, my friends, is the last floor of our multi-level home complete! I have to tell you, it makes a huge difference to know that we no longer have a seriously rough and unfinished space awaiting our attention. No more designer room of shame in the house!

There is something significant to be said for the psychology of environment and the comfort that comes from a home that supports your life on every level. That’s always my goal with the homes I design for my clients, and I’m so grateful we have a home with an interior that is finished to function beautifully and inspire our own little family. We still have a master bedroom that could use some decorating love and an exterior that is in serious need of a curb appeal makeover, but the interior of our home feels like just that – home – and I could not be more thankful for that.

TAKE TIME TO SAVOUR ALL THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE REVEALS!

I am also incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to link arms with my fellow design daredevils throughout this One Room Challenge. There are some SPECTACULAR spaces to be seen in this round, so be sure to check out all of these links!
