Friday Giveaway! | Custom iPhone Case

I just love it when you stumble upon something lovely, only to discover the person behind it is even lovelier! That couldn’t be truer with the maker of my new iPhone case. In search of something unique and inspiring, I perused Etsy and was delighted to stumble upon SeptemberWren‘s cases, customized with Meg’s vintage-feeling, sun-drenched photos. It was hard to choose, and the debate came down to these two.

My love of water won out {after all, I still got to have some trees too!}. Given that one of my happiest places to spend time with my sweet family is on Lake Muskoka or Lake Joe enjoying a day of light dancing off the lake framed by fragrant pines, I had to choose the second one. I was so excited to place my order and couldn’t have been more delighted when I opened the box. It is warm and charming and happy and makes me feel like a family getaway is not too far off in my future. Nothing like a little visual escapism for the everyday! Perfect.

I had to message Meg of SeptemberWren and tell her how much I loved the case, and being the incredibly generous and lovely human being that she is, Meg suggested we share her lovely cases with you lovely readers!! Here are the details:

Meg is giving away not one, but TWO iPhone cases! The case can be customized with any of her photographs and can be made as either an iPhone 4 case or an iPhone 5 case. Holla!

To be one of these two lucky winners, here’s how you can enter:

1. Pin It To Win It – pin your favourite design {either from this post or from Meg’s Etsy shop} and post a link to your pin in the comments below. Be sure to include the hashtags #SeptemberWren and #TheCuratedHouse on your pins.

2. Follow me on Twitter and ReTweet the contest out to all your friends! Just post a link to your tweet in the comments below to help us track all your amazing Twitter activity.

3. Publish this post on your Facebook page, and again, just link us to it in your comments below.

It’s really that simple! Meg will then send a customized iPhone case of your choosing to you, the two lucky winners! How generous and lovely and perfectly delightful is that?

I will announce the two winners in the comments stream of this post on Sunday night, so you’ve got all weekend to Pin, Tweet and Facebook it up!

If you are looking for a thoughtful and personalized gift for a friend, I highly recommend considering one of SeptemberWren‘s cases. Christmas is coming. Why not get some of your shopping done early? Go fall in love with Meg’s photos and see if you can choose just one…I dare you!

Converting your iPhone into a Polaroid Camera

Oh. My. Goodness. I am excited, friends. Remember my recent post about the beautiful book Instant Love by Jen Altman and Amanda Gilligan? Well I’ve been searching for an old Polaroid SX70 camera ever since. I haven’t found one yet {mark my words, I will!}, but in the meantime, I’ve found Part 2 of my soon-to-be Polaroid Adventures.

With the boom of neverending iPhone camera apps, beautiful photos in digital form abound. Just follow a few interesting people on Instagram and you’ll know what I mean. But what to do with them from there? Are they destined to remain trapped on your iPhone forever, never living up to their full potential to be appreciated?

Heaven’s, no. Enter the utterly ingenious team from Impossible. Starting with a small team of the top 10 former Polaroid employees, they set out to save Polaroid film from extinction in 2008. They succeeded and are now producing the original film {as well as innovative new films} for Polaroid cameras in the original factory in Enschede, Netherlands.

Not content to stop with that massive win, they continued to innovate. And what they’ve created gets me really, really excited. OK, drum roll is long enough. Here it is.

Yes, that’s right friends. This amazing device takes your favourite iPhone photos and coverts them into warm and vintage-looking Polaroid prints. Digital to Analog in seconds. Before your very eyes. Check out this video {just in case you don’t believe me!}:

I know. It’s instantly on all of your wish lists. Me too. But we have to wait until 2013 to get it in our hot little hands. So until then, keep snapping up inspirational photos on those iPhones, friends. All the more material to work with when the Impossible Instant Lab is finally ready to come out and play.

All About A Dress

It’s amazing what can come from the simplest starting point. With one spark of inspiration, a whole world of ideas can be fanned into flame. Take today’s post, for example. All inspired by one sweet and simple dress. But let me be clear: this is no ordinary dress. It is a dress that led to a picnic, and that picnic led to a photo shoot, and that photo shoot led to a video shoot, and that video shoot led to an adventure. But I’m getting ahead of myself. For now, the dress.

From Anthropologie’s Fit and Flare collection, this shapely little shift is perfect for girly curves. Light as air, beautifully tailored and whimsical, it had me at hello. Add to that the hidden pockets {perfect for storing secret love notes} and it’s all a girl could hope for in a swinging summer frock.

All photos by the very lovely Gabriela Hansen.

More tomorrow!
